چکیده

A study of the radial gradients driven neoclassical transport for fast ions, produced by isotropic source, in an axisymmetric toroidal system is present. The governing equation, the bounce averaged Fokker-Planck equation which contains both effects of the pitch angle scattering and the drag, is solved by utilizing the eigenfunction technique in cooperation with a rigorous numerical treatment. The results, which contain the complete physics of both collisional effects for finite inverse-aspect-ratio (e = i), are found to be, for most of the relevant parameter regimes, in between of the previous limiting calculations1 '4.

PFC / JA - 89 - 4 Rev . Neoclassical Analysis of Impurity Transport Following Transition to Improved Particle Confinement

Strongly peaked impurity density profiles have been observed in Alcator C after frozen hydrogen pellet injection. More recent experiments in ASDEX, PBX, TEXT, JET, and TFTR have exhibited similar impurity accumulation during regimes of improved confinement. In this context, we present calculations of the neoclassically predicted equilibrium profiles of the intrinsic impurities in Alcator C. The...

PSFC/JA-06-31 Collisional bulk ion transport and poloidal rotation driven by neutral beam injection

Neutral beam injection (NBI) is known to significantly affect radial transport in a toka-mak plasma. However, the effect on collisional transport, accounting for strong toroidal plasma rotation, which is typical in the presence of NBI, had not been addressed. Furthermore , recent observations have shown poloidal velocities, in the presence of NBI, significantly in excess of the standard neoclas...

Microturbulence driven transport of energetic ions in the ITER steady-state scenario

Modelling of microturbulence-driven transport of energetic ions in an ITER steady-state scenario is presented. Results indicate that a significant fraction of the velocity space distribution of alpha particles and deuterium ions can be transported above neoclassical predictions. Turbulent magnetic fluctuations are found to significantly enhance the fast ion diffusivity. Overall, the conclusion ...
